After a 7.5-8 hour flight, I arrived in London Heathrow Airport and was picked up by a driver arranged for me by Admiral, the company I will be interning with starting Monday. The drive was about 2.5 hours long, but felt like a lot longer due the fact that I was extremely jet lagged. My time, I had been awake from 2am-8am before I was able to sneak in a shower and a nap.
I spent my remaining light hours yesterday organizing my room and exploring the near parts of the city. It was hard to anticipate the crosswalks since they all drive on the left side of the road…but I made do. I bought some necessities and went back to my loft, feeling tired again. After eating a big bowl of rice crispies (since it didn't feel like dinner to me yet), I got back into bed and fell back to sleep. It is now Saturday morning and I am hoping to get a few things done. I need to get an international SIM card, send some emails to Admiral, and get some more necessities.
We'll see how much actually gets done…

I'm glad that you finally arrived. What a trip! Is that a picture of where you are living? How beautiful. Could you fill me in more about your responsibilities at your job? I'm interested to know what Admiral is. I hope that your first week of work goes well. Take pictures of where you are working- especially of you! I can't wait to hear about it!

Admiral is a leading car insurance company in the UK…and as of yesterday it was voted the #3 best company to work for!! I'm working in the People Services Department of Recruitment (People Services is like HR). My summer-long project revolves around researching testing assessments to add to Admiral's application process so that they can screen out the people who are more fit for the positions at an earlier point in the application process. After applicants apply, they participate in a phone interview. Some are a great fit…but some are not. The result of my research and analysis will be a decrease in the amount of applicants that participate in the phone interview that do not fit the role well. The purpose of all this is to ensure that we are recruiting the best of the best!
