Lilly Farahani Ankara Week 3

This week we only had a two day work week. After we came back from Istanbul Monday night we left for Antalya Thursday morning. This week we only had two days of conversations classes and we spent most of our time in the work room making lesson plans for next week. Next week is our last week teaching classes so we will probably do something interactive and fun.

We spent most of our time in Antalya relaxing on the beach. The first beach that we went to had a pebble beach, but sadly we had gone late so it wasn't warm at all. On Saturday though, we took a 45 minute bus ride to Lara beach which was absolutely stunning. I officially have my summer tan since I spent 7 hours on the beach that day. I got to swim in the mediterranean except I didn't think it would be as salty as it was. Being in the water for longer than 30 minutes dehydrated me so much. I'm also not that tall so I couldn't go that far from shore, but it was beautiful none the less. We had dinner at a restaurant that was right next to the mediterranean both days that we stayed there. I'm not really a fish person, but the sea bass was absolutely delicious. The view from the restaurant looked like it came out of a fairy tale.

Compared to Ankara, Antalya had a lot of stray animals, mostly cats. Whenever we were at a restaurant there would be atleast 2 or 3 cats wandering around in hopes of receiving a few scraps. I had a hard time saying no and would almost always feed one that would come near my table. This wasn't the best idea since one stray cat usually turned into four swarming our table.

The bus ride to Antalya was 7.5 hours long. Two hours of the drive was going up and down the mountains near the area which really freaked me out. I felt the bus was going way too fast and I thought we were going to fall off the mountain. Antalya had an amazing coast but I heard that Izmir had even more beautiful beaches compared to Antalya. I can't wait to see what Izmir has to hold since we will probably be travelling there next weekend.

  1. Lilly,

Great post! Thanks for posting the title like you did- Name, Location, Week #. It's really helpful.

Short work weeks are wonderful, especially if you take advantage of the long weekend by traveling. What type of activity do you think you will do this week? P I would love to hear about it. Thanks for posting the picture of the work room. It's nice to see everyone at work.

That sea bass looks delicious- the cats think that too, apparently! Stray animals, especially in restaurants, are something that we aren't used to here in the U.S. It is hard getting used to. Izmir sounds like it will be a great experience. I can't wait to hear about it!

    Best,
    Tammy
